How It Works

The patient will need to fill out the following forms:

When a Second Opinion is Needed

If you have seen another physician and are still unsure about the right course of treatment, a second opinion is often helpful and includes a comprehensive visit with an NOI doctor as well as a review of pertinent medical records and imaging. Our physician will provide you with written documentation of his/her opinion of the best course of treatment to address your condition.

A second opinion can be very helpful if:

  • You want a second opinion on your diagnosis
  • You want a second opinion on your treatment recommendations

What should I do once I have the second opinion?

The Newport Orthopedic Institute orthopedist may agree with your original diagnosis and treatment plan, offering you peace of mind that you’re making the right decisions regarding your care. It is also possible that the NOI doctor will agree with the original diagnosis, but will offer different or additional treatment recommendations. Or our NOI physician may have a different diagnosis entirely and will recommend a different course of treatment.

Whatever the outcome, once you receive the report, you will have the necessary information to make a decision about how best to proceed with treatment.

If you decide to come to Newport Orthopedic Institute for treatment, you will likely see the same orthopedic surgeon who provided you with your second opinion consultation.
