Why You Should Consider Telehealth Orthopedic Care

Although our offices at Newport Orthopedic Institute are open for elective surgeries and other services, we understand that you may be apprehensive when it comes to making your way into a doctor’s office. Fortunately, virtual visits are available for pre-existing patients to keep you and your orthopedist connected.

Minimizes Risk of Exposure

As California continues to go through the various stages of reopening in the wake of the COVID-19 outbreak, the risk of coming in contact with a sick person or carrier of the virus still exists. Although there are many safety protocols in place, like social distancing and wearing face coverings, some people may prefer to keep their distance and stay at home. Telehealth virtual visits help to provide patients with the orthopedic care they need while keeping this concern in mind.

Increased Convenience

Virtual appointments with your orthopedist, sports medicine doctor or pain management specialist can also help to cut down on unnecessary travel. When you have questions about your condition or your course of treatment, it is not always essential to physically be in your doctor’s office. As long as you have a computer or smartphone with a camera and an internet connection, you are able to connect with your orthopedic care team.

How Do Telehealth Visits Work?

Newport Orthopedic Institute is currently offering Telehealth orthopedic care for existing patients. To schedule your virtual appointment, please call our offices or fill out a request for an appointment form. When scheduling your telehealth visit, our office will provide the log in information needed for the day of your scheduled appointment.

After receiving the necessary information, you will be able to log into your appointment at the time of your session, where you will be able to see and talk to your doctor in real-time. During your appointment, your doctor will be able to diagnose your condition and discuss possible treatment options as well as any additional testing that may be needed. We recommend you login to your telehealth appointment 5-10 minutes prior to your scheduled appointment.
