Biography

Dr. David H. So is a board-certified, fellowship-trained orthopaedic surgeon who specializes in joint replacement for the treatment of knee and hip arthritis, with an emphasis on providing patient-centered treatment options. His treatment philosophy emphasizes non-operative solutions whenever possible. When surgery is indicated, Dr. So is skilled in using the latest surgical techniques and technologies available. 

He received advanced training in joint replacement techniques, including minimally invasive, anterior-approach hip replacement, computer-assisted as well as robotic-assisted hip and knee arthroplasty, kinematic alignment in total knee replacement, partial knee replacement, in addition to the use of medial pivot and custom knee implants. He also has extensive experience treating patients with failed or infected hip and knee replacements. 

Dr. So received his undergraduate degree in Industrial & Operations Engineering at the University of Michigan. He earned his medical doctorate from the Wayne State University School of Medicine in Detroit, MI. He then stayed in Detroit to complete his orthopaedic residency at Henry Ford Hospital. Following residency, he completed an additional fellowship year focusing on complex joint replacement and adult reconstructive surgery at the University of Pennsylvania. He practiced for seven years in Orange County as an Associate Clinical Professor and served as Associated Residency Program Director at UC Irvine Department of Orthopaedic Surgery. 

Outside of his practice, Dr. So enjoys spending time with his wife and children as well as staying active hiking, playing tennis, and attempting to golf.
