Newport Orthopedic Institute is open on Saturday mornings from 8am – 11am at our Irvine location. Dr. Gazzaniga, Dr. Ravski and Dr. Shukla will be available for current or new patients to schedule an appointment for an office visit. Walk-ins are also welcome!

In addition to scheduled appointments, walk-ins needing urgent orthopedic care, including concussion care management. NOI understands when injuries occur time is important and receiving prompt, expert treatment can make all the difference. Saturday availability allows access to specialized, orthopedic care immediately instead of waiting through the weekend.

Open Saturdays from 8am – 11:00am beginning October 25, 2014.

The following can be treated on a walk-in basis on Saturday mornings:

  • Concussion management
  • Sprains or strains
  • Closed fractures
  • Minor dislocations
  • Lacerations
  • Cast or wound dressing problems
  • Painful, swollen or injured joints such as knees, elbows and shoulders
  • Tennis elbow and other sports injuries
  • Foot and ankle injuries
  • Back pain

Dr. Eugene Yim is a fellowship-trained primary care sports medicine physician with a background in emergency medicine. Dr. Yim specializes in the non-operative management of sports and orthopedic injuries. After pursuing his undergraduate education at Yale University, Dr. Yim moved to California to complete his medical degree at Stanford Medical School. While in medical school, Dr. Yim spent a year at the Harvard School of Public Health, obtaining a Masters in Public Health (M.P.H). He returned to Boston to complete his residency training in Emergency Medicine at the Harvard Affiliated Emergency Medicine Residency program at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center.

Following residency, Dr. Yim returned to California to complete a fellowship in sports medicine at Stanford. As a staff member at the Stanford Sports Medicine Clinic, Dr. Yim helped care for all of the NCAA Division I athletes at Stanford. He served as a team physician for Stanford Football and Women’s Soccer. He also had the opportunity to serve as the medical team physician for the San Francisco 49ers, helping care for professional football players in the NFL.
