Treating Calcaneous Fractures / Heel Bone Fractures
Calcaneous fractures refers to fractures of the heel bone. There are many
fractures that fall under this category, such as stable, displaced, open,
closed, and comminuted fractures. Fractures can be sustained through a
variety of activities, but commonly occur due to high impact collisions,
falls, or twists. Some of the symptoms of a calcaneous fracture are pain,
bruising, and heel deformity. There are both surgical and nonsurgical
treatments available to patients, depending on the extent of the fracture.
Dr. Gerken brings years of knowledge and experience examining and treating calcaneous
