 Spine Center

Patients suffering from back or neck pain now have a comprehensive medical resource to help alleviate their discomfort. The Spine Center can help patients find relief from low back pain or neck pain that has lasted longer than 6 weeks.

At the Spine Center, patients can be evaluated and treated in one convenient location.  The goal is to take a more holistic approach to relieving back and neck pain. The center is directed by physiatrists, medical doctors who specialize in the treatment of all neurologic and orthopedic disabilities, from traumatic brain injury to lower back pain.

Treatments available through the Spine Center include the administration of epidurals and pain injections, referrals for chiropractic evaluation and treatment, and physical therapy. Those patients who require surgery will be referred to specialists.

Patients who will benefit most from the services offered at Spine Center are those who have been treated conservatively with anti-inflammatories, home exercises and physical therapy but have seen limited improvement.  The Center strives to use the latest accepted guidelines for the management of back and neck pain in order to enhance the quality of care and patient satisfaction.

Complementary and Alternative Medicine

In addition, NOI offers a full array of ancillary services on-site, making the continuum of care as seamless and convenient for patients as possible. Our complementary and alternative medicine services include:

  • Physical therapy - One of the most important treatments in the care of orthopedic patients, physical therapy at NOI includes Pilates wellness and conditioning for individuals, as well as group classes scheduled for evening hours.
  • Hand therapy
  • Massage therapy

NOI also offers patients on-site prescription and non-prescription medical equipment such as wrist splints, kneebraces, walker boots and exercise kits. Books, reference materials, and nutricueticals such as glucosamine and chondroitin supplements are also available for purchase.

Technology For The Digital Age

NOI offers the latest in diagnostic imaging services on-site, as well as digital storage of patient information.

  • State-of-the-art digital X-ray -- Significantly faster and more accurate than traditional X-ray, superior digital images are acquired in less than 10 seconds and reduce the need for duplicate tests when images are unclear. Digital X-rays are electronically transmitted to a computer workstation in each exam room for review by the physician, eliminating delays.
  • Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) --  Powered by High Definition technology, the scanner delivers extraordinary quality and detail to assist physicians in appropriate diagnoses.  The system is extremely fast and quieter than most MRI scanners, providing a better, more comfortable experience for patients.
  • Digital and filmless environment -- By storing patient records and images electronically, NOI physicians can access medical records immediately during the visit, enhancing the time patients spend with their physician.

So impressive is the array of technology, NOI has been designated a GE show site for the latest in imaging systems.

 State of the Art Environment

NOI has designed its facility to accommodate the specialty areas of Adult Reconstruction, Spine, Sports Medicine and Extremity/Trauma.  Each specialty area has its own distinct waiting room and reception area to allow for more personalized care and service to patients. Each physician has a dedicated support team to address the questions and concerns of patients. Even the acoustic environment throughout the facility features music and a sound masking system to ensure patient privacy and the confidential verbal exchange between staff and patients.

Physician Assistants

Physician assistants (PAs) are health care professionals who are licensed to practice medicine with physician supervision. As part of their comprehensive responsibilities, PAs conduct physical exams, diagnose and treat illnesses, order and interpret tests, counsel on preventive health care, assist in surgery, and write prescriptions. Within the physician-PA relationship, physician assistants exercise autonomy in medical decision-making and provide a broad range of diagnostic and therapeutic services. A PA's practice may also include education, research and administrative services.

PAs are trained in intensive, accredited education programs. To maintain their national certification, PAs must log 100 hours of continuing medical education every two years and sit for a recertification every six years. NOI is pleased to work with these professionals on extending health care to the community:

    Eric Glassman, PA-C
    Cecil Reyes, PA-C
    Glen Rogers, PA-C
